About Club

Esteghlal Khuzestan Football Club is a professional football club based in Ahvaz, Iran. The club was founded in 2011 and currently competes in the Persian Gulf Pro League, the top tier of Iranian football.

The club earned promotion to the Persian Gulf Pro League after two seasons in the Azadegan League. Following its promotion, the club’s name was changed from Esteghlal Sanati Ahvaz to Esteghlal Khuzestan to better represent the Khuzestan region.

In the 2015–95 season, under head coach Abdollah Veisi, Esteghlal Khuzestan achieved a historic milestone by winning the Persian Gulf Pro League title.

During the same period, the team recorded one of the best defensive performances in the history of Iranian football, conceding only 14 goals, matching Persepolis for the fewest goals conceded in the league era.

The club also has a runner-up finish in the Iran Super Cup.

At the end of the 2018–98 season, despite a six-point deduction imposed by FIFA, Esteghlal Khuzestan finished in sixteenth place and was relegated to the Azadegan League after six consecutive seasons in the top flight.
